Brite Conference 2022

As a design assistant at Columbia Business School's Center on Global Brand Leadership, I created the assets for the annual BRITE Conference.

Overview

Columbia Business School's Center on Global Brand Leadership creates, gathers, and shares insights on how to build and manage strong brands. At the annual BRITE Conference, CMOs and heads of marketing, and brand managers gather to look at the intersection of brands, innovation, and technology.

Role

As a designer, I worked to create a design and theme for the annual BRITE Conference.

Duration

1 month (March 2022 to April 2022)

Team

Manager: Director Matthew Quint

Tools

Adobe Illustrator

Scope

Graphics, Branding

The Task

I was asked to create the theme and all digital assets to be used for the 2022 annual Brite Conference.

Theme Topics

The conference was overall centered around brands, innovation, and technology, but there were also more specific key topics to be discussed as well, including but not limited to sustainability, finance, the Metaverse, and Al-powered technologies. For the design, I decided to focus more on Al technology as a visual point.

LO-FI PROTOTYPES AND SKETCHES

Ideation

I made some sketches to start using Columbia Business School branded colors that aligned with the theme.

Core Messaging

After creating the design based on the sketch, I reiterated and found a way to incorporate the original Brite logo in a transitional yet playful way — one of the circuits leads to the lightbulb icon.

Reiteration

To create the banner for the website, I stretched the design to hold the title whilst keeping the original logo. Moreover, I added pictorial icons to further build on the conference’s theme of technology and the Metaverse.

Final Deck Design

The Design — Evolved

I was fortunate that the design from the previous year, 2022, was well-received. We continued the theme for the 2023 conference by making some tweaks, still centered around AI technology.

Reflection

GRATITUDE

I felt immensely thankful for the opportunity to execute on my vision for the theme conference, which is the flagship event of the brand center held annually. Additionally, I consider myself incredibly fortunate to collaborate with Director Matt Quint, who allows me the freedom to explore creative terrain whilst adhering to the etiquette of the business school.

LESS IS MORE

When it comes to visual communication, simplicity in conveying the message is key.
